I have seen several references to his apparently sizeable collection over the years. Does anyone know if the collection was auctioned off or how otherwise made it into public?

I would guess most of Smoky Joe's stuff went into auctions over the years, Bryan. I remember seeing some great things visiting his farm in Maryland about 25 years ago, where there was a loft with a memorabilia room kept by the family. His son Bob set up at the Philly shows for several years, and may have sold some things there, but he was mostly there to chat about his dad and promote his entrance into the HOF. I could be wrong, but I don't remember a "Smoky Joe Wood Collection" auction with all the stuff from his career. And it's also possible that these things are still in the family.

His son became a dealer of sorts, working at shows on the east coast for many years. He sold off pieces as he went along.

He lived a good long life, and from what I have read, was a great guy and a prolific signer who didn't charge money for his autograph.

Hunts auctioned off several items from his collection. Was fortunate to add a few Joe Wood Kansas items.

Thanks for the input. I am asking because I have this 18.5" x 12.5" 1915 Red Sox Fatima poster signed by Smoky Joe and I am guessing it came from his collection and was given to someone based on the inscription. Had hoped to find an old auction catalog or some provenance.
