Here is a 1911 Philadelphia Athletics bi-fold panoramic postcard that I recently acquired. I love the elephant sweaters and the five HOFers (Collins, Baker, Mack, Bender and Plank). I have never seen another one, has anyone seen this before? Any help in further identifying it would be appreciated.

Has anyone seen this postcard before, or is it truly unique?

I have seen that card before, but just once. The card I saw was part of a private collection belonging to a gentleman from Rhode Island.
I have also seen the same style folding postcard for the Pirates, Tigers and the giants. I would love to own any of them... Grrreat pick up! |

Thanks all,
I have seen those other foldout teams from the era as well, but it appears that they are more common relatively speaking. Interesting to know there is at least one more existent. |

A few years off, wrong team, and probably a tad too tall for Eddie!

Funny, it kind of looks like someone might have taken the stamp and left the card! It's nice to see a postmark so you know it was actually out in the year listed.

Very common for postcards to have the stamp removed...stamp collectors in the 1950-70s did a lot of damage to the postcard hobby...at least they didn't just tear the corner off. And now those stamps they soaked and tore off are virtually worthless.

thankfully, whoever wanted the penny stamp simply peeled it rather than clipping the stamp box from the card - unfortunately I've seen cards missing a chunk of the corner too many times, including the 1912 "Thorpe of Carlisle, PA" Olympic postcard in my collection. |

I am glad to see a postmarked copy of this as it does clearly establish the year of issue consistent with the "1911 Champions" caption. What is fascinating though is that either the printer was prescient or "Champions" must refer to the American League Champions as the postmark is October 25th but the A's didn't win the World Series until the 26th. My guess, and only a guess, is the A.L. Champions scenario is the reference in the caption and that postcards were sold at Shibe Park during the World Series, thus the very limited quantities of this postcard existent today.
