Hello CJ gang. I miss some good ole CJ talk and was wondering how much time everyone has invested in this wonderful project.
I just passed my 2-year anniversary and these past holidays saw a dramatic increase in my set including a 1914 Chance that I'll include as one of my "monster" number of 177 for a complete 1915 set +1 (someday I may include the e145 Callahan, Cashion and Lord to have 1 CJ of every player ever represented). I started out buying 4 commons from fellow member Rich Rockwood prior to board membership. 3 large purchases over the winter holidays and selling dup's bumped my number from 65 to 141 rather quickly. Been left with 36 to go for some time now and would love to finish this baby and get my 29-card display up. So, how did everyone start and when? I just want to talk about our "mainstream" CJ's some more. The Chance is definitely the favorite so far and its amazing the color difference in the 2 sets as I have a few 1914's as well. Aloha my friend! I have started cj's 3 or 4 times and actually got to over 100 diff. but always tired of them....I think it is the all red backgrounds that bored me. I love other sets but love the "full color issues" b and w just never did it for me. hence I have stayed with 206's and some goudeys (hof type cards, (color)) and my fave 52t's to 56 topps and early color bowman isues, not to side track your thread but are there others who are "turned off by b&w issues? aloha, dave.

Started in 2004 - three cards away from complete 1915 set. Wow should I apologize for starting you off on the journey Steven?
![]() I had been out of baseball cards for decades and had just recently started looking at what out there and prices when I happened to see that Topps had released the 2004 Cracker Jack. Until they made that set I had never heard of the 1914/14 Cracker Jack set. One look on eBay and I started to pick them up whenever I could. I certainly have met some great CJ collectors along the way!
