What the hell is this?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Huge-Very-Ra...item337047e2f1 (Not to influence anybodys opinion, but this seller W.Holdings went by another name just a few years ago and got booted off Ebay for LOTS of negative feedback for selling crap. They do sell a lot and some obviously is real - the best swindlers mix in good with bad). |

for $300 the shady seller though is stating 1910's - that's a nice touch to up the bidding. Ebay sellers desciption: This is a Great, Very Rare, Early Shoeless Joe Jackson baseball bat. This wonderful Old piece has a Great, Early design, with an almost non-existant knob, is marked "Zinn Beck Bat Co. - Greenville, South Carolina - Diamond Ace - Type of Bat Used by Jackson", is from around the 1910's, the Black Sox era, Rare to Find and would be a wonderful addition to any collection. This is a Very substantial piece of lumber, measuring approx. 35" long and weighing 37.5 ozs, just like Black Betsy. This appears to be in Good, Solid condition, with some typical issues, and displays MUCH better than the pictures show. Original sellers description: ...seldom seen manufactuer and seldom seen with Jackson endorsement...condition issues (cracked, repaired, faded wood, chips) but still displays nicely and being this RARE, any condition is a find...if near mint its worth $400-500!! Measures 35'' and is very thick compared to most... That seller on Ebay is as shady as they come. Last edited by Shoeless Moe; 01-06-2012 at 10:51 PM. |

This guy sold a bunch of questionable mid-end autographed cuts about a week ago...
PS-the bat looks like it may have been sanded down.. |

Why can't it be a Travis Jackson bat.

Zinn Beck Bats were not manufactured until early in 1922. It could be any Jackson who played around this time but
Mears says this http://www.mearsonline.com/index.php...t01returnid=98 Good buy if you can get it at a decent price and then have it repaired Last edited by murphusa; 01-07-2012 at 12:28 PM. |

I think the diamond shaped logo came a few years after the original oval labels. Here's another diamond that's definitely a Joe.

Seller paid 300 left off info like bat is cracked in dscription, blatantly lied about the time frame it was from and clears over $300 profit.
Sounds about right. Might be time to join the swindlers and autograph forgers, all they do is collect, while all we do is watch them collect. |
