1929 R316 with Ad Back....

Have any of you seen 1929 R316's with ad backs before? Take a look at the cards below. While they appear to have paper residue on the back, the ad back is clearly evident. I know other cards (1930 W554, etc) have been seen with ad backs, but I don't recall seeing any R316's with ad backs. Any ideas regarding value for these R316's?

Brad, never saw these before & have no idea of value.
I looked up the movie "The Cohen's & Kelly's in trouble" which was released in 1933.
4 years after these cards were made.
So apparently some marketing guy got a pile of these cards on the cheap and came up w/ a
novel way to advertise the movie's appearance.

Not sure about pricing. They're probably only worth a buck or two, but I'll give you twice that! The '10 SCD lists Ed Miller w/ an Oriental Theatre back at $37.50 in VG. These cost me a bit more:

before and after a good bath......5 minutes in a bowl of lukewarm tap water can do miracles sometimes.....(sorry for the different size scans....the card didn't shrink )

Wow! What a difference, Leon. Great job!

How long did you let it dry after pulling it out of the water? Did you pat it dry with a towel? Did you put books on it to flatten it out? If so, how long did you leave the books on it?

I've never done this before and would be interested in trying it with mine.... Thanks!

I took a small glass bowl and put tap water in it. I stuck it in the microwave for 90 seconds to heat it up. I dropped the card in it. After less than a minute the whole piece of notebook paper almost completely floated off of the card. I took the card out and just pulled the paper gently off of the back of it. It was almost completely off already. I then pat dry the card with a piece of regular ole paper towel. Then I sat a top loader on top of it so it wouldn't curl too much. For the next 30 minutes I would pick up the top loader every few minutes so the card wouldn't stick to it too much. Then after about 30 minutes to an hour I took the top loader off of the card altogether and let it dry the rest of the way. Later that evening it was completely dry and I put it in a sleeve and top loader as I do all of my raw cards. I probably only left the card in the water for less than 3-4 minutes. Really, the less the better. That notebook paper started floating off of it in less than a minute...hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions. It was super easy. When I saw those 3 on ebay, 2 of them had been snapped up immediately and I snapped up the last one asap. Best money I have spent recently. regards
