While at the National my friend was able to find these 8x10 type 1 photo's from 1945 which I thought were pretty cool find as I recall a thread in the last year or so where there were pictures of some OJ Cabinets on the wall of a store, etc. and was wondering if anyone else out there may have photo's with pictures of cards on them ? Here are 2 photo examples which shows a young Harry Caray & Gabby Street on the WIL mic in St. Louis with a 2 pictures hanging on the wall behind them (1. Lou Gehrig) (2. Large T206 display with some E's splashed in as well) --- The 2nd photo features Gabby shaking hands with WIL Exec & Old Judge Coffee Exec with 2 large T Displays hanging on the wall. One is a T205 Display with Johnny Evers Turkey Red in the middle, and the other is the T206 Display which you can see in the other picture. I have rambled enough, but I thought the T206 & T205 collector's would especially like to see this neat display. Does anyone out there have a photo with pictures of cards on them ? Also I wonder if Bill Goodwin has already gone through the WIL offices and acquired these 2 Wall displays ?

Obviously there were more on the wall than shown in the photo. The Huggins and Scott lot has the one on the right in the photo plus another one, the one in the photo with the T205's is not offered in their auction(unless it's another lot and not shown in the preview).

Nice catch Danny! I was just sure Bill Goodwin would find these rascals and auction them! I would love to know how the consignor came by these wall displays and funny how the pics I posted a few months back and now the displays have come to life some 60+ years later.
![]() BTW - Did anyone notice the Red Cobb Portrait ? It is orange in the middle, then red on the top part of the T206. Strange... I would say the sun may have created the fade, but the top half is red. I suppose this was a printing gaff ?? I have never seen a Red Cobb with half red - half orange...

Several look quite faded, with the window seen in the first bw photos this is a great example of what the sun can do on the red layer. Great find and nice to see these in color.

Anyone know where that is located. If it's a STL radio station chances are that more than a few of those may be Drum's. That would be sweet!!

very cool, the first thing I noticed is both photos are in the same room and probably taken the same day, as Gabby is wearing the same suit and tie. Also like the memorabilia under the glass on table. Im sure that room had this type of stuff on all the walls...

Hi Andrew - Yes, WIL is located in St. Louis... (Since 1925)
Leon - This thread was revived from my original August post after returning from the National... The Drum theory is an interesting one... Do you suppose the lot will go higher as a result ? Perhaps, the original owner moved to St. Louis and is from some other part of the country or the original owner of the frames, sold the frames in the 30's or 40's and they made their way there... I am guessing the original owner worked for WIL in Station management. (Knowing the origin would really nail it down. Perhaps Huggins could indulge us with a little more information about how the consignor came by the picture frames!?)

Jeremy I didn't read the OP very well. I used to live in the STL area growing up and WIL fm 92.3 was the station I listen to the most. They are all country music and broadcast the cards games live when in town. Just a guess but I am going to say those cards originated in the area. STL has always been a hot bed for small finds. A few yrs back I made several trips to there from KC to buy cards. Back in the 30's I am sure those cards were very abundant and cheap so making something like that would have been very cheap. You could smoke in the buildings then so just a few yrs of donations or saving would have made that a very easy feat to accomplish if made before then in the teens. Still a very neat item and I do hope some are drums.
Does anyone know if the cards FS in the collage are confirmed for drum backs?? |

Who is between Taylor and Ford at the bottom left of the top photo collage in the initial post? I can't tell. Thanks.
