What's the story on 1948-49 Leaf?

I have learned some info about baseball 48-49 leaf about how some cards were deliberatly short printed and there was skip numbering done to make the set look bigger and make kids spend more pennies. I do know that some cards are copywritten 1948 while others 1949. But here is my question when in 1948 were the 1948 one made, not released, but made? I have heard it was NOV-DEC 1948 but was it maybe sooner in the year?

Zach- Our own TedZ wrote pretty much the definitive article on the set in Old Cardboard a few years ago, I believe there were Cracker Jacks on the cover. It's well worth the few dollars to order the issue, as it should answer most if not all questions.

I did not find a TedZ in the members list, is that his username or does he go by something else? I see a TedZan

That is him, but you should probably start by ordering the issue, it will probably answer most of your questions

as you may have read already

The Leaf cards are ALL from 1949
........even though some have a 1948 copyright
