Though there isn't much posted it is very acceptable to post football and any other sport memorabilia in this section. The titles of all of the forums were actually carefully picked, hence the name of this forum-
"Net54baseball Sports (Primarily) Vintage Memorabilia Forum" . .

Chris,
There was one that was called Net54, but it was unrelated to this board. It was very good for a short time run by Gridiron Greats magazine, but had been hacked and/or members had dropped out. http://www.network54.com/Index/50082 |

A Leyendecker football poster probably won't even elicit many responses

I don't know about responses but that is a neat Composite Max. You don't have to necessarily love football, football photos or memorabilia to like that piece.

Max:
Great composite photo, I'm not a football collector but can certainly appreciate that one. |

Max,
That Leyendecker poster is the sh*t. He was one hell of a draughtsman, and in my opinion, is still one of the most underrated artists of his era. Just think, after Rockwell, he had the post Saturday Evening Post covers featuring his artwork. And it's easy to see why. I feel like his style just really lent itself very well to those covers, especially design-wise. But even as a painter, the way that he could describe form with a brushstroke was just pure genius. Have you ever seen his stuff in person? What I've been able to find has always knocked my socks off... Graig

If I recall the recent auction prices correctly for originals of his work, I don't think the market regards him as that underrated. His paintings are decidely pricey. Max

Max, I did a story on Leyendecker a couple years ago, see link above Chris, Even though it's mainly baseball, this site is the only place I know of you can discuss antique/vintage football things...I've done tons of football posts here...look up my "threads started" and you'll see plenty...Leon clarified it's OK. Not too long ago there was even a big discussion on whether to include all sports...met with general approval...heck, couple weeks ago I think I even posted some 1862 ice skates and no one threw tomaotes.
