Pardon me if this has been covered before, but I'm a post war collector who voraciously reads all the T206 talk around these parts and it interests me greatly. I'm not looking to start trekking up the side of 'The Monster' mountain, but I wouldn't mind grabbing a card or two at the next show. Here's my overly simplified question:
What is a reasonable price to pay for a decent shaped common T206? For instance, when I'm looking to pick up 1972 high numbers that book for around $12, I can usually get them for between $4-5. Somewhere in that neighborhood. That pricing model is second nature to me and the price goes up or down a little based on condition. Do you T206 collectors have a similar 'normal' price that you can usually pay to pick up commons from the set? I'm looking for common fronts with common backs with little to (preferably) no creasing. Again, I realize this is simplified, but what number instantly comes to mind? Thanks!

![]() Anywhere from $15 to $25. Depends on your personal definition of "decent shaped". Also depends on the back and the subject. Good thing about t206 is: they are so plentiful, you can do an ebay search for sold listings to get a great idea of current condition/price. Tony Last edited by tonyo; 06-06-2013 at 05:13 AM. |

I think what you consider "decent shape" may make the price tag vary for a common T206 much more than the difference in condition of a 1972 Topps high number.
For me, a "decent shape" T206 common would be around $30. |

Thanks for the quick input, you two. I guess I should've been more specific. I'm looking for common fronts with common backs with little to no creasing (I'll add that to the original post). Obviously, I would like no creases whatsoever, but I have a feeling that might significantly raise the 'beginning price' I'm seeking.

There are tons of deals out there, especially on this Forum. You can definitely get a get looking T206 for $15-$30.

Damn! I always pay too much. I usually look for non-creased, clean cards with nice corners, which are hard to find unslabbed and often sell for $100.00 or higher.

I've done pretty well looking for cards with nice looking fronts and minor back damage... Most people think that really downgrades the card, but if it's a 6 except that there is a fleck of paper missing on the back and it's 10% the price of a 6 it's perfect for my collection.
