Default huggins and scott rosh hashanah

does anyone find it unusual that an auction house would have its 2 day auction end, on the 2 days of rosh hashanah
bad planning on their part? i guess we'll have to wait and see if after sundown bidding is slower than usual

I'm sure it was unintentional and they simply overlooked it. And while we are on the subject...Happy New Year to all!

I dont think it registers as a major holiday in the minds of most, rightly or wrongly. they probably didnt think about it.

anyone who wants something in that auction, but cant bid due to religious observance, i am sure could find a way to have someone else bid in their place, or log in as them, and bid for them with permission up to their predetermined limit.

Hey, if Hank Greenberg can play baseball on Rosh Hashanah I can bid on baseball cards. Greenberg wrote in his autobiography, "The team was fighting for first place, and I was probably the only batter in the lineup who was not in a slump. But in the Jewish religion, it is traditional that one observe the holiday solemnly, with prayer. One should not engage in work or play. And I wasn't sure what to do." Greenberg's rabbi said that Rosh Hashanah was a "festive holiday" and playing would be acceptable. Hank played and hit two home runs including a ninth inning game winner.

Great photos of Hank Greenberg!

Here's a family picture of my dad, Hank Greenberg and Nick Atrock at Briggs Stadium in 1938. This photo ran in The Detroit News and was taken by my namesake, long-time Detroit sports lensman Scotty McGregor.

I know there is little control in the sports world but the Carolina Hurricanes opening night is Kol Nidre. I'll be elsewhere.
