pretty rare but they do come up, certain players like Evers come up more often than others. if it's low grade I don't think you will gain much value by having it graded.

I was the winner of a three card lot (Brown, Tinker and Chance) in the August Legendary auction. Link: http://www.legendaryauctions.com/Lot...x?lotid=111302 The description referred to them as "Anonymous" postcards and the SGC flip is non-committal but the "$ shield" is on the backs plain as day. All I know about them is summarized on the Old Cardboard page. They are very cool in hand, especially with the period writing.

My understanding is that these postcards were published by Crose Publishing Company. I have a Johnny Kling in my collection.

They are listed in the Mashburn postcard guide as being from Crose Publishing Co., if memory serves.
The company made both player cards and a Chicago team card: ![]() ![]() Robert S |

Sorry to bump an old thread, but these cards were actually produced by the Suhling Company of Chicago and not by Crose Photo (of Indiana). The $ inside the shield is Suhling's logo as shown below on this non-sport greetings postcard.

What others have said... nice research. Always good to check facts and be able to right an old wrong.
