I ran across a larger group of cabinets today and a few of them have uncanny resemblences to a few t206 players from Minneapolis. Do we know who may have photographed them and are there any others I should look for? I have heard of Horner and Gray but those are East Coast right?

This is probably about as comprehensive a list of MSP photographers as you will find:

The Old Judges were photographed by numerous local photographers around the country, but I'm not certain how/who all the T206s were done. Horner was a T206 photographer. Off the top of my head I think B J Falk was too. There certainly could have been others. For example, it would be a reasonable guess that New Yorkers Horner and Falk didn't do many do many to all of Texas Leaguers and other far away minor leaguers. Many to all of those images could have been done regionally/locally. I highly doubt Horner or Falk took the train to Dallas to take Texas Leaguer photos and the players certainly weren't playing anywhere near their Manhattan studios. I'm using Texas as an example, of course. I know you're talking about Minneapolis.

Minneapolis T206 players with T206 poses? Not that I know of.
The knowledge about the T206s photographers and photos has developed, with errors corrected, in recent years, and I'm sure it will expand in the future. Until recently, some portraits were thought to be by Horner turned out to be by Falk. Will some other photographers be identified in the future? I would guess so. Could it include someone from Minneapolis? Why not? There's still a lot be known about this area. Last edited by drc; 04-16-2012 at 01:54 AM. |
