Default Yum Yum card errors: Tido's and Fido's

As the year draws to a close, I wanted to thank Leon for hosting a great forum, moderator Dan for his frequent support, and many other board members for their support both on the forum and in emails and for sending me some great images.

Anyway - if these Yum Yum errors are already known to the hobby - then at least I have educated myself:

Happy New Year

The same error is present on the Four Base Hits card. It also depicts Billy Sunday, but names Daily.

Good thread Mark, there are other errors as well by A. Beck & Co. and SGC alike. This is not Lady Baldwin; doesn't look much like Mark "Fido" Baldwin either.

I suspect it is a member of the Chicago team but not sure who. Will start studying the clean-shaven members.

Yes indeed, I didn't have a copy of that cabinet on my hard drive to reference. Do you know the photographer and date of photo? (just curious)

Thanks !

Thanks Mark, so it looks like a majority of the photographic images used in the set originate from Stevens Studio (Chicago) and Joseph Wood (New York). I'm surprised how many of the 1886 Joseph Wood photos of the two New York Clubs (Giants & Mets) are found in the set. The Mets would disband before Yum Yums were issued but the 1886 "Spotted Ties" are abundant with the updated team present (based on where the players wound up).

Hope Richard doesn't mind the rampant sharing of his images, but this is cool . . .

Here is a closer look at the Joseph Wood photos found in the Yum Yum set. The Yum Yums may shed some light on what the N167 cards look like of Dorgan & Esterbrook (catalogued players but images couldn't be found for inclusion in our Old Judge book) as well as Deasley & Mutrie who may yet be found (known in woodcut form). I included two of the "Spotted Ties" for good measure as well.

Part 1 of 2 (limited to 10 images)

Default Joe and Mark

That is some neat stuff guys. Seeing those images, and knowing I owned about a half a dozen at one time or another, makes me a bit remorseful. Great photos....

Richard Masson has pointed out that the Cap Ansom Yum Yum is also mis-identified. He is Ned Williamson.

The Daily/Sunday card has been known for a long time now. It is mentioned in some old price guide from the 1980s that I have packed away.

The Anson/Williamson error likewise has been known for a long time. However, no photo of Anson labeled Williamson has ever been found.

I think Dave Levin found one in the Indianapolis Find.

Default Dave Levin's N403 Williamson

I think Richard may have gotten his from Dave Levin.

Unless I am mistaken, the only Yum Yum card found in the Indianapolis find was the Anson card depicted in this thread (which mistakenly depicts Williamson). No Yum Yum labeled as Williamson was part of the find.

Here is the Wood cabinet of Dorgan. Same photo as the Yum-Yum, although the Yum-Yum is cropped.

Also, the G&B Richardson uses the same photo as the Yum-Yum Richardson.
