Default 1941 Double Play Question

I was looking through my 41 Double Play binder and noticed that card #39-40, Mize and Slaughter, had a black/white photo, as opposed to the regular sepia tone photos. The card stock appears to be the same material and thickness as the others I have. Is this a reprint card or did this set include both sepia and black/white photos?

My authentic DPs are sepia toned, some dark some light. I'd been duped and bought a b/w long ago, obvious fake in hand. Seller used a small, blurry scan - another classic move.

The most obvious tell, was the dot matrix pattern in the text portion using magnif. (The text on the originals is stamped solid). The top of the origs were printed on white paper that is then glued to grayish card stock, this fake was one-piece whitish card stock.

As with any old Issue, a black light helps and also comparing the backs -totally different card stock. It also helps to have originals for comparison.

Post a scan. Spotting fakes and giving negatives is the funnest part of the hobby!

I forgot to mention. The OldCardboard link at the top of the page has great descriptions about original cards.

Default 41 Double Play image

Steve,

Here is the card image. I forgot that this one is cut in half. I looked under magnification but the print appears solid. Were there variations of the sepia tone so that some might look more black and white?

Default Thanks

Thanks for the info. I was simply concerned because this card looked so different from all the other Double Plays I have.
