Rhys and I would fight over the cards when my mother would bring in the J.J.Nissen bread from a trip to the store (we grew up in Orono, Maine). However, if we went to the grocery store you better believe we were squeezing all the loafs trying to find the hottest players!

My scarcest bread card. You could get 10 loaves for a full set of 60 cards. Since only 2 of these cards are known (ironically the same player) I guess the sets were all turned in....regards

though they're post war, how about those bread end labels? Geez, collecting some of them is like chasing four leaf clovers or hens' teeth.

I chased this set as Nissen Bread was all around RI, and I have never seen the Vance Law/Grace error card. Does anyone have it to show?

I have absolutely no idea why I thought this was really funny. It's so simple, I guess. ROLMAO

I looked more for extra Ted Williams that I traded for other ones I needed. Usually 3 or more for each Williams.
I hunted around to complete the few regional sets from the area, Chilly Willy, PapaGinos, Nissen... The best was the papa Ginos. Towards the end of the promotion we went for family pizza night. All I got was a common extra and all 3 of us got the same card. When we asked for different ones the waitress brought out a bucketfull and just said bring them back once we'd picked what we needed. I have childhood memories (nightmares) of eating Dennys three meals a day just to get those hologram cards.
Also, I seem to remember eating alot of Jiffy Pop popcorn and Hostess Ring Dings. |

We had those 7-11 ballplayer Slurpee cups stacked everywhere. Those were kind of cool.....
