I have been trying to research, with the board search function, about "districts" regarding T206 cards.I've also read Scot's book, and Lew's book, but there doesn't seem to be much info on the districts.
From what I understand,is these districts were used for governmental tax purposes. I'm sure it's been discussed before, but my question is regarding the backs of Piedmont Factory No.25. I've seen sellers occaisionally and erroneously label in their description of the card "Factory No.25,24 Dist. VA".......the 24 part seems wrong,it is clearly a "2" but not a "4"........more like a line with a small half circle connected to it. Would it be a symbol for "2nd"?----"Factory 25,2nd Dist.VA"? When comparing the Piedmont "Factory No.42,4th Dist.N.C." back, the "4" is clearly a "4". I would appreciate any clarification on this subject,or any direction to an archived thread about this subject.Thank you so much. Sincerely,Clayton |
