How can I find out who played specific game during 1894? All data I found contains the boxscore only but not the lineup. Any advice? I am interested in specific game ticket but I need to know if he played that game or not.

Did you google "1894 baseball box scores" You might try that, I found a few when I did that. What team and player are you looking for?

Have you tried Retrosheet?
http://www.retrosheet.org/ Their boxscores are pretty detailed... http://www.retrosheet.org/gamelogs/index.html If you can't extract the required information there, try signing in and asking at their associated Retrolist forum -- http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/RetroList/

I checked retrosheet but they don't have box scores going that far back, just line scores. New York Times might have them, if you can get into their history. I used to use the Times microfilms but that probably no longer exists.

SABR members can search Paper of Record as part of their membership. I took a quick search for "hoy" in June/July 1894 in The Sporting News and didn't get any relevant hits.
I'll try and dig up the boxscore later Max Last edited by baseballart; 12-08-2009 at 08:27 AM. |
