Back when I was a younger kid (and about 50 lbs heavier!), I had the absolute greatest job in the world... I got to work with sports heroes every week. I usually tried to get a poloroid taken with each player I met. Recently, I looked through some of my old albums and thought it might be interesting to share some of my photos and see others as well. I've tried to select some pre-war guys to keep this on topic. However, here are some interesting (and sad) tidpits about the photos below...
Good Ole Tommy - posted him in honor of his recent birthday. Hank's quote - well I was sitting in between Moose and Hank... Moose and I had met numerous times before and for some reason, jokingly looked over at me and said he loved me. Moments later, as Hank was signing my photo, he shared his true feelings about me. Buck - One of the nicest people I ever met. Poor Johnny - This photo was taken on October 5th, 1997 at around 4pm or so. Johnny passed away on October 6, 1997... ![]()

Very neat idea for a thread. I realize the lighting isn't the best, but this is my oldest son with Pete Gray taken on the porch of his house in Nanticoke, PA approx. 10 years ago

Beckett will holder original snapshots, so you could have a graded photo of yourself with a player. Polaroids in particular are simple to authenticate as original, as, due to their one-of-one on the spot developing process, 99 percent are originals.

As a teenager, I used to work for a company that made gold records for the music industry. About 15 years ago, Yaz's agent mentioned that the record depicted is still displayed in Carl's house.

In the spring of 86 I got to spend the day with Kirby Puckett while the twins were promoting the upcoming season for the local radio station, only 3 other teens were there with about 15 old men and none of us thought to bring a camera, big regret. Also Herb Brooks spoke at our hockey banquet around 82 or 83, I took pictures of him but not with him, again not thinking.

Actually, I have no idea who this woman is. I found the photo on ebay, as I recall, and grabbed it because I'm always looking for Mathews items. On the rare occasions when I do dress up in drag I wear more makeup than this woman.

Souvenir of a pleasant afternoon when my Dad and I went to visit journeyman pitcher Arthur Herring. In Detroit on August 16, 1931, Art unsuccessfully tried to throw the baseball we're holding past Babe Ruth. It was the Babe's 598th home run. Art recovered the baseball and Ruth signed it on the sweet spot. It was his proudest possession. Wonderful guy.
