Cool item.
If I had to guess, I'd bet someone was clever enough to create a baseball card as an invitation for a banquet celebrating Bing's recent marriage. Here's a link that mentions his marriage. Since he was married in early 1930, most likely that is when the card/invitation was most likely created. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bing_Miller Good luck, Patrick Last edited by Vintagecatcher; 08-24-2009 at 05:43 PM. |

A manufactured card possibly maybe, looks very similar to the W572 Strip cards. I'd do some more research before deeming this card legit, but if the card turns out to be authentic, congratulations!

Got the card today, looks good, thoughts? The card measures a shade over 2.75 inches X 5.5 inches.

I do seem to be missing one? I thought I had that trademarked?
On the subject of the card I have never seen one like that before. At first glance I too thought "W572" but of course the dimensions are wrong and it has the back inscription. Also, a bit closer look shows the auto to be in different (maybe real) ink..... Very neat.....

Using the good old perpetual calendar, it shouldn't be hard to pin down the year for this great-looking item. Between his "early 1930" marriage and his 1966 death, January 19th only fell on a Monday in the following years: 1931, 1942, 1948, 1953 and 1959.
Looks like a 1931 item to me...probably on the occasion of his first wedding anniversary. |
