Bill StoneOne of the delights in collecting the T210 series is finding out the stories behind the players. I recently acquired a large group of T210's and just for fun I randomly picked out one to research. It was Jackson of Lynchburg ( Series 2).
The SABR minor league database only had that his first name was Owen and he was born in 1882. I then began contacting
people in Lynchburg,Va. and was able to get a copy of the
June 12, 1910 Lynchburg News which contained a story about his death.According to the paper Owen Jackson, know as "Jack"
was a popular member of the Lynchburg Shoemakers. He died on
June 11, 1910 of typhoid fever and was to buried in his hometown of Frostburg,Maryland. It seems that everytime I research a player in this series there is some interesting background. Local museums and libaries are always anxious to help.
