I've noticed that Beckett will slab just about anything and I'm wondering if they will encapsulate trimmed and/or skinned OJ's. Anyone know? |

I don't know the answer to your question, Dan, but the other day I saw an old judge in a Beckett holder. Not an Old Judge card, but literally an old judge. (It presented nicely except for a few surface wrinkles.) |

For the record; while we are indeed willing to slab up "just about anything", we have not yet encapsulated any of the following: |

Frank, I've asked before if SGC would encapsulate a skinned OJ and have been told they will not. I think they will encapsulate trimmed cards because they believe my Kid Nichols is trimmed (I do not) and they encapsulated that. |

Glad that Beckett will slab a skinned card. |

I guess I just don't understand why a grading company wouldn't slab a skinned card...There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what they will and will not put in a holder. |

It would be to the hobby's benefit if they did that is for sure. |

I don't see anything wrong with grading services encapsulating skinned cards as long as they document the alteration (SKINNED) on the LABEL. You know that there will be people selling encapsulated material that is skinned and the seller will not reveal the reason for the AUTH designation. The buyer may not like skinned material but the seller (ok, a bad seller) could indicate that it was "professionally graded" (the biggest misconception in our hobby) and therefore not covered under their refund policy. |
