c1895-1900 school team. I think there is another photo that goes with this one which may offer clues as to where this is.

Value for unidentified photos such as this one is in the $30 range. If you can identify the team it could be a whole lot more to the right person.

You never posted the photo of the picture on the back of this photo. Two guys working with sewing machines. Hmmm... I heard that salaries back in the old days weren't so great so players often had jobs during the off season. Is it possible that the two guys on the photo are ball players sewing to earn a living during the off season? Wow, this could be really interesting. Maybe we'll see a picture of Hugh Ignatius Daily? That would be an ultra rare picture. However, I'm not to sure if the federal government was providing tax credits for hiring the disabled back in those days. If both guys have both arms then I don't think it's a picture of Hugh Ignatius Daily. However, maybe, just maybe it could be a picture of Hugh showing that he was the first recipient of an arm transplant which could make the picture ultra rare and worth more than the $30 that someone quoted. Please, post the picture of the guys with the sewing machine.

the last few comments really show some people true colors.. it is niCe to know that the more "experienced" collectors are not willing to help newer collectors. let me guess, you were given this gift by god.. you know the gift of knowing every hobby answer.. get a clue!

Brian, your photo is circa 1895-1905...it appears to be a school...it is worth about $30....it may well be impossible to determine the location of this school since the photo was never marked by the original owner. SGC will not grade it.

I added a little history to my response. That is how you're going to gain knowledge. If you like 19th century baseball an easier way to gain knowledge is to start reading about it. Books by Nemec are a great resource. You can find them on ebay at a relatively inexpensive price.

There are lots of pictures posted of townies or school teams. I think after a while you kind of look to see what it is the person posting the thread sees. Generally, unless it's a picture of a professional team you are probably going to see a little sarcasm.

If you happen to find a picture of a player, in uniform, taken around the early to mid 1880s and the guy is missing a left forearm then post it! It could be Daily. If the uniform confirms it then you're on to something! Sorry about the sarcasm. Enjoy this bull board, even though some of us have a rather bland sense of humor.

Wasn't there another "what team is this?" thread recently with a photo that showed a completely different bunch of guys in front of a nearly identical building? Maybe together the photos can form a rough panorama that would make the building (and therefore the teams) more identifiable. Or not...
