Mainstream candy issues - values years ago?

I've read enough about what cards like t206's were sold for 10-20 years ago or more. I was curious though as to the mainstream candy issues ie, e94, e97, e98. Can anybody recall what these went for as compared to know, 10 or 20 years ago? I would assume they went for even less than t206's in that time period...but I don't know that for sure. What would a e94 wags in good condition have went for in 1983? How about a e97 steinfeldt in ex back in 1975? Just interesting to see if anybody can recall.

After I saw your post I flipped through six issues of The Trader Speaks from 1982. Below are two ads that offer some E cards for sale. When I get a chance I'll browse through some earlier issues.

Dave- in the 80's and early 90's there was not a lot of interest in E-cards. I remember that at a time when I was actively stocking tobacco cards, I was always a little leery of the candy issues. They were difficult to sell.

About 15 years ago I bought a collection of about 30 E99 and E100 for something like $25 a card. There was even a Type II in the group. I was concerned that I had too many of these obscure cards (can you imagine that) and I flipped them to another dealer for about $35 a pop.

E cards were sellable back then but they moved slowly; T205, T206, and other popular tobacco issues sold much more easily.

We used to laugh at a fellow collector friend of ours who bought up every caramel card he could in the late 80's, early 90's. We thought they were redheaded stepchildren to the "real" cards-the tobacco cards. He had the last laugh and currently has an attic full of E cards worth a fortune and which he has not visited in 15 years. I have tried to tell him he needs to throw them out there and he would be shocked what they brought but he is willing to let them sit there. Grrrr
The caramel cards like E90-1, E93, E94, E95, E96, E97 and E98s were just afterthoughts when I started collecting T205s and 06s and 07s in the 80's and early 90's.
I also note in the ad above that you could buy up several D310s for $10 a pop. Wow!

Looking at those old sales listings makes me cringe knowing I was buying up all the 1982 Fleer Steve Sax cards I could find back then... dammit hindsight.. argh!

Marty- I remember getting excited when I picked up a 1981 Fleer Craig Nettles error around 1982. That was a big deal. It's worth less today, 25 years later.
