Do you folks think the decisions of many Board members not to bid has had much impact? The following lot sure looked like it went way below market value to me and pushed temptation close to the limit: |

Considering that this version "Phila's" sold at the August Mastro auction in SGC 10 for $4,339.00 something happened. |

But SCP's attention needs to be grabbed. |

I usually at least look at the catalog from SCP... I got about 4 emails in the last few days from them about their auction and each one was promptly deleted... |

Low price - true. But let's not forget that the delahanty is in worse condition than the delahanty that sold previously and that the other two cards in the lot were trimmed and skinned respectively (I know SCP described one of the cards as being merely "miscut", but you have to wonder considering it is not in a slab). |

I would've gone pretty hard for a couple of lots, but stopped after I read about Ryan's problems with them. I suspect a lot of other people did as well. |

I put in two low bids and then when I was outbid, I just decided not to bid partially b/c of what happened to Ryan...The two lots went for less than what I had anticipated my high bid being...so I can guarentee that SCP/Soth. lost money on this auction. |

The Delehanty had a pretty darn nice looking front. The Welch was probably factory miscut, from looking at the scan, imo. I think you could add at least a few thousand to this lot if it weren't in a tainted auction....again, just my opinion... |

After placing five initial bids, I was going to bid on 2 lots at closing time...until the Ryan thing. |

Were there good deals aside from the N172 Delahanty? I thought prices were pretty strong on most prewar. |

The T206 green Cobb PSA 7 sure didn't suffer. |

Yeah, the prices were strong. As Jim noted, the Green Cobb was off the charts -- a PSA 7 version sold for $17K in REA in the Spring and last night's went off for twice that (granted, the card was incredible). |

I haven't bothered to look myself at many of the prices, but the lot of 21 T207 I had marked before Ryan's post went for about $50 a card, which I thought was quite low given the number of scarcities it had. |

Tim, I agree regarding SCP's actions (or lack thereof) notwithstanding that "Stuff trumps everything". |

Who picked up the T206 Sweeney, no red ink? I forgot that SCP closes lots individually, so I missed out. Someone seems to have gotten a pretty good deal on that one. |
