OT: Deadball Stars of the American League...Cover Photo?

Did anyone else wonder why many of the male patrons in the photo on the front of Deadball Stars of the American League are wearing "do-rags"? A style from the era? They also seem to be confined to lower seats closest to the field. The photo is from the the 1907 World Series.
