I have an HP scanner that works really well. It is the 3970, which (of course) isn't made any more. I paid $99 for it at Best Buy about 3 years ago. |

I am not sure about pins and so forth being scanned, as I mostly do cards, but I just replaced my scanner a few months ago. It's a Microtek 400s flatbed scanner...I paid about $175 for it new....I love it. Whichever one you get make sure it's Hi Speed USB version 2. Unless you have a firewire connector (about the same I think) or a scsi adapter (not likely) then a USB v2 scanner should be your best bet...Others might have different views....Mine works great and I love it....Hope this helps..... |

I have had both HP and Microtek scanners and I like the Microtek better. All of my HP scans strobe to some degree when scanning with the lid slighly open (like with a slab or pin)which is not a problem I have had with Microtek scanners. |
