Milt Stock of the 1925 Brooklyn Robins collected four hits in four consecutive games, a major league record. Does anyone have any Milt Stock cards to post?

Rafael Furcal did it in three consecutive games but failed in his attempt to reach four last night. Stock had a lifetime BA of .289. He also played for the Giants, Cards and Phillies. Stock hit .328 in 1925, his lifetime high as well as his last full season.

Without checking the references, I believe you can find Milt Stock cards among the early 1920's caramel sets like the E121's.

Bruce, I was following Furcal's at bats last night. Incredible stat. Not to hijack your thread, but I read something incredible today in the NY Times: Derek Jeter has gotten a hit in 92 of the past 100 games; the last player to have hit in at least 92 of 100 games was Keeler in 1899. Is that incredible or what?

Didn't DiMaggio hit for 56 miss one game and hit for like 36 or 37 in a row after that. Too lazy to look it up, but seems like he woulda been awful close to 90 or 92 out of 100?

I heard that research had been done to try to find out the record number of consecutive games reaching base safely, by any means. The conclusion was that it was 74 straight games by Dimaggio. After "The Streak", he reached on a walk (game 57), and then began a 17 game hitting streak, after which he failed to reach base. I remember that the other players in the running were not superstars, and it was really interesting how some kept their streak alive (hit batsman, dropped third strikes, etc.). Apparently, the record was not so easy to ascertain, as no one had ever really kept track.

It seems as if the same photo was used in many different card series. In my opinion it looks like a "stock photo".

Jeff- I saw that stat too and it's pretty amazing, yet it's be treated as a piece of trivia.

I knew about Furcal's trio of four hit games and thought it was a record. I remember Roberto Clemente once had back to back five hit games, and that in 1980 George Brett had seven consecutive games with three or more hits. I believe both of those are records.

Cap'n Jeter has a shot of matching Joe D who had hits in 74 of 79 games. Its just phenomenal what he's doing.

Too bad the rest of the Yankees aren't matching that
