I have a few questions about some things that were thrown around in the recent pirate back thread. First, Pirate tobacco doesn't have any affiliation with the american tobacco trust, correct? Second, does the maker of Pirate tobacco have any affiliation with Red Cross Tobacco? Why was the decision made to include them with Red Cross's set designation? I thought that they shared the same 88 card checklist as Red Cross type 1, but it was just mentioned that Lipset catologued 94 different pirate cards. So whats the deal? |

I may be wrong and if so, I hope to be corrected but my understanding was that Pirate was issued by the British-American Tobacco Co. Ltd, of Bristol & London England for distribution to servicemen in the Far East, Singapore, and Hong Kong. |
