Just wondering whether there might be enough D.C. area folks to establish an informal group that might get together from time to time to tell card war stories, show-and-tell, whatever. Let me know if interested and I'll try to coordinate a lunch or dinner at an acceptable spot. (I don't have Barry's patience though, so no promises....) Mark |

Count me in. May I suggest Columbia, MD as a meeting spot? It is essentially the restaurant park for the Baltimore/Washington area and is conveniantly located betwixt the two. Let's get some of us Baltimoreans in the mix too! |

especially during Super Bowl. I think this has promise and will wait a couple days for any additional responses. But, as to those who have not advised of where you live, please do so so that I can at least make an effort at suggesting a geographically tolerable place to meet. Obviously, going to be hard to make everybody happy. On the other hand, if this becomes a semi-regular activity, we can move the meeting spot around. I'm in Falls Church, by the way. |

Ok. It looks like we have about a dozen folks interested in catching up. Names and locations (where provided) are Tom Botticelli (Fairfax), Andy Cook (Fairfax), James Feagin (Columbia), Ken Cohen (Alexandria), Ray (Capitol Hill), Bob Lamb, Alan (Rockville?), Brad Green (Chantilly), Bruce MacPherson (Falls Church), Mike, Don Johnson and Larrie Dean. |

The kickoff "meeting" of the D.C. chapter will be held over dinner at Sweetwater Tavern (50 & Gallows, Falls Church) next Thursday (15th) at 7:00, weather permitting. At this point, it's Bruce MacPherson, Ken Cohen and yours truly. Everyone is invited; just give me a heads-up so we know how many folks to expect. Mark |

The D.C. chapter held its first "meeting" last night as Bruce MacPherson, Ken Cohen, Andy Cook and I braved the icy cold for dinner and beer at Sweetwater Tavern in Falls Church. Good fun and card conversation. I'm hopeful we can gather again in the spring with others as well. If any of the N.Y.C. brethren might be inclined to take the train down to attend, I'm sure we can find a suitable place to meet near Union Station. Mark |

I'll be at Chantilly and would definitely make the effort to meet up. As I said at our small "inaugural" dinner, which I enjoyed very much, I hope that participation will grow to the point we'll be able to challenge the New York gang to a rumble - switch blades and zip guns. If we all polish up our long-lost dance moves, we could outdo the rumble scene in West Side Story. |

In response to Frank's question, maybe we should plan a second "meeting" in the spring. I'll post an "invitation" once we get past the cold weather. From this thread, it looks like with some decent planning (always an open question) we can get a good turnout. Mark |
