Picked this up yesterday from a highly regarded ebaY seller. He allowed me into his beautifully restored antique home. He's owned this piece for 25+ years in it's current state. The trim-job is very old, but evenly cut, the back shows mild paperloss. This T3 is likely not from a picture frame but scrapbook salvage.

Though the value is near-zilch in the relative sense... Don't stand a chance at finding another at low cost and simply couldn't pass on it.


I just noticed, On another T3 Cobb/checklist back, '#76 JACK JOHNSON was added. Another variation?

I'm a little confused.

1) why does the PSA flip say Christy Mathewson?
2) why would someone crack the slab and then cut off the borders?
3) or... are you showing that this was a mount job? did he take the borderless Cobb and glue it to another T3 to add borders and then get it slabbed as Authentic - Altered? If so, why would he choose the valuable Mathewson and not a common?

I think I remember the story when you picked up the Matty, wasn't it raw and didn't you get a great price on that one too?

Are you going to get the Cobb slabbed as Authentic too?

They don't like to slab cards this badly damaged, I will submit. -They're reputation is to valuable to risk having an eyesore such as this in their case.

Yes! The first series cards have this variation.
All told there are 5 different backs.
Those 2, the high series checklist cards
the high series ad backs and the cards w/ checklist backs
w/o ordering info and redemption date.

Steve - A beat up trimmed no border Cobb is better then having no Cobb.
My PSA-1 Cobb w/ a tack hole cost me $2100. Some who view it say, too bad
about the hole it would be nicer w/o it.
No doubt they are correct, but that $2100 card would have cost me maybe $5000 then.
