Any thoughts on these two cabinets please. Image at left, photographer COOK of Boston, has a lace-up shirt, which may just have been the attire for the day. Guy at right has a faint WOOD PHOTOGRAPHEA NEWARK stamp on back. I don't think either are baseball related, but thought I'd throw it open to the good folk here. |

Judging from the eyes of the guy on the right, Id say that he would have no problem following Wilhelm's knuckler. |

If the cabinet is from the right period, it could be argued that the guy on the right is in baseball uniform. |

After years of doing photo i.d. on 19th century players, the most difficult aspect for me are those darn mustaches. In a way they make all those old timers look vaguely familiar to the guy you hope it is. |

Facial identification of photos takes practice, and can be difficult when na limited number of images exist. When in doubt it's probably not the person. Realize that any high school has a student who resembles someone famous, whether it's a young George Bush or a young Dianna Ross. So if you you look through a mound of photos of unfamous people, a few will somewhat resemble someone famous. |
