Hey guys, just curious to see how you all started out, since I'm just starting out myself. I just got my first T206 in the mail today, from Tom Boticelli from the boards, and I have 2 more incoming. Here is it. What was yours? |

I just got my first a week or so ago and it was an Admiral Schlei portrait (a very dirty PSA 1) with a Polar Bear back. My second came in yesterday which was a John Anderson (GAI 2.5) with a Sweet Caporal back. |

During the summer of 1997, a friend of mine called me up to say that his cousin's best friend was planning a trip to Vegas and needed some money. As a result, he was interested in selling cards from his grandfather's collection. I came over right away and saw a cigar box filled with raw T206 cards. He probably had about 40, and though he wouldn't consider selling his Walter Johnson portrait, he did sell me these two for a combined total of $500, which was about high book value at the time -- $350 for the Matty, $150 for the Bender. They are, have been and will remain the cornerstones of my T206 set. |

My first T206 was the Cobb bat on somewhere around 1995 and I have been hooked ever since. Now I have over 500 and will collect them forever! |

When I was 15, I bought the Tinker-Evers-Chance infield in low grade condition for 60 bucks and the dealer threw in Steinfeldt becasue he was impressed I knew he was the 3rd baseman on that team. Good times! |

I had been into 1940, 50, 60's cards for many years because I liked reading the stat backs. Three years ago I thought I'd try prewar, my first had to be Sox cuz we're suckers for punishment; |

Chesbroe. Found it at a show in 1990. Paid $35.00. I have since had PSA slab it, and it is a very nice 5. I have always liked that card. I still have it. I do not collect 206's, but this one, I will keep. |

My first T206 was Harry Patte from a shop in Wisconsin. I later bought a Pattee signed index card and framed the two together. |

My first was a Shad Barry two years ago. I of course paid too much for it but since then I have learned a lot about the set, the era and how not to overpay for cards. 154 and counting!!! |

Ed Ciccote. Thought it would be cool to have a "real" card of a Black Sox'er. It's been all downhill (financially) since then, but am having a great time! |

I was about 12 years old and an ad ran in the paper saying a guy was selling old cards. He had about 27 t 206's with this Cobb and either a Walter Johnson or Christy Mathewson being the most famous (at least to me at that time). He wanted $75 for the Cobb and $50 for the other HOFamer (this was about 1979) with the other cards being a lot less expensive. I chose Cobb. |

Sweet Cobb. I would love to pick up a Cicotte; there's a guy on the boards that has one, but he hasn't emailed me back yet. Ah well. |

Mine was a low-grade, but still attractive, Tinker portrait. Being a Cubs fan, couldn't resist when I saw it in my local shop. Have no clue what I paid, but I'm sure it was too much. |
