I've been working on the 1933 WWG set for about 10 years and have recently decided to go for both back variation sets (English only vs French/English). It's become fairly clear to me that there's a clear difference in the printings between the low numbers (1-52) and the high numbers (53-94) with respect to the proportions of the two back types. It's my impression that the English only backs are much scarcer in the high numbers than in the low numbers. SCD lists the English only backs as scarcer than the Fr/Eng backs overall, but says nothing about a different proportion between low and high number backs. Can anyone here shed some light on this issue for me. |
