your best clue to date is probably going to come from the photography studio. i can make out appleton, wi which might mean this is a player from the appleton papermakers. this would also date your photo closer to 1909-1915 |

Interesting attire. His lower half appears to be on its way to a football game (high-top cleats and moleskin pants) and his upper half looks like a first baseman. I cannot say that I have ever seen a baseball player in moleskin pants (they were common attire for football up until 1905 or so when the built in thigh pad style became popular). I agree with the 1895 to 1905 assessment. |
