I just had a fantastic transaction with Richard Masson and we started talking about the amount of E90-1 Joe Jackson's floating around. I am curious if anyone has any information or even a guess on the population of this card. Although this card is not considered scarce by most, it doesn't show up very often. On a side note, I hope the Chicago show this weekend isn't a bust. |

My best guess is there are less than 100. Based on what i've seen in all the major auction house auction books over the last 15 years. Although not a set i've ever collected the word from others is it's very tough to finish with jackson being one of the harder cards to find. |

Any thoughts or a guess on the amount of E90-1 Jacksons that exist? |

PSA has graded 38 and SGC has graded 18. These pop reports have been pretty stagnant for a couple years. I doubt that many get cracked out and resubmitted since most cards are in the low grades and normally people with cards at the low end (or high end) do not crack and resubmit. So the pop reports are likely fairly reasonable. Undoubtably GAI and beckett have graded some, as well. Hugginsandscott just sold a BVG 1. I, have not seen a lot of raw e90-1 Jacksons, but certainly there are many. So my over/under is about 90 available. The real issue is finding them in high (PSA 5 and above) grade. |

Huggins and Scott just closed a BVG 1 for $2750. |

that is difficult to find E90-1 Jacksons for sale or trade , even though it is not extremely rare . I have certainly seen many more E90-1 Cobbs for sale during the past year than Jacksons even though they are in the same ballpark as far as rarity .Collectors seem to hold on to them .I suppose it has do with the " rookie " tag .With a limited number of sales and those in very low grades , it is difficult to calculate an accurate value of a mid - grade example . |

Dan, What a great question. The card is # one on my want list, just over-shadowing the D304 Cobb by a slim margin. If I were to venture to guess, I would have to say at least 200-300... I really doubt it's in the 500-1000 range. The population reports are great but you've gotta think there are still a few ungraded out there. Hopefully in New Hampshire....SS |
