I will be interested in hearing the results of his carbon dating at Gonzaga since Gonzaga does not have a carbon dating lab. One of the few labs for this in the country is at Univ. of Arizona. This is where most archeologists send their materials. |

Beyond that he obviously hasn't had it carbon dated, that he says that it is carbon datd has been makes it fraud. He says at the end, "This is a binding contract" but has put information in the contract that he knows is false. The fact that he puts this claim in print on a pubic forum for thousands of people to read shows what an idiot he is. When another seller says "I am not an expert so am offering this as an unauthenticated reprint," at least he can argue with a smidgen of credibility that he was ignorant at the time of sale and didn't know what he was doing. When you claim something was carbon dated at Gonzaga University at the official papers say the card is 100% 1910, it's hard to later claim "Oh yeah, I forgot. I meant to get it carbon dated, but had to cancel at the last minute so I could pick up my daughter at school. My mistake." |

Ok, maybe this is not quite as funny as the carbon dating, but when i saw this today, I almost died laughing... Up for auction here is a very old tail rudder off of a WWI era plane - 70+ years old. In fact, this piece is so old, the seller would not be surprised if it came off of an 1800's airplane... check it out |

The disturbing thing about the rudder item, is I live in the same community as the seller supposedly does. And our state prides itself on a highly educated group of people ? |

I know where you can get carbon dating done for less than the cost of getting your card slabbed. Too bad these idiots don't realize that if you carbon date a card it becomes trimmed/altered and can no longer be slabbed. The other thing I find laughable is that they paid per painting so that they could check each one for hidden cards. You gotta live the stories these fools come up with. |

I think we're missing the subtle "double-speak". He only said that Rosen says a card like this would go for $3500. He doesn't quite say that Rosen was referring to THIS particular card. So Rosen's statement, may, in fact, be accurate. Go figure. |

Carbon dating has its uses, but dating a 20th century paper item isn't one of them. Dating a baseball card from 1910 based on it's carbon-14 content is like measuring the length of your couch with your car's odometer. It's just the wrong tool for the job. |

But you have to admit these sellers come up with some pretty amazing stories. They are getting better at it even if they can neither spell nor construct a complete sentence. |

For old paintings on wood, like from the 1300s or 1400s, they do actually count the rings in the wood to determine the age. They will look into the history of the region, finding out when there was a big drought or fire that affects the rings of trees. |

ust watching the science channel and they were carbon dating something to see if it was around 3 thousand years old. The results came back and the lab said that the most accurate they can get is plus/minus 50 years. I guess if the card came back with a date of 1961, it still might be from 1911. |

You all failed to notice the fact that he "would grade it a 3 or 4"! I'm gonna rip all my PSA, SGC 1's and 2's out of their holders and mail them to this guy for re-grading. The whole description was HILARIOUS! Good thing no poor schmuck actually bought that on Ebay. |
