There are 4 different poses. I pulled three of the pics from GFG and the other is a scan of the fourth pose not shown on GFG. |

Both correct. There are four known pose variations, batting, fielding-hands neck high, fielding grounder, and throwing. Within these pose variations there are 12 different known caption variaitons (3 different captions each for the four pose variations--I think). Jay can probably confirm this. |

I think I'd be happy with the four poses... now on the other hand there are collectors that might select one player and try to locate every variation possible for that player... |

On the fielding grounder pose - what are the different variations, and are any of them any rarer than the others? I see the "Phila" one quite often - but I think I've also seen one that says "Philadelphias", that I don't see quite often. |

Meant to chime in earlier, but just now getting around to it. I thought I'd add a little information on just how many variations can be found. George was issued four poses in 1887 with no new poses being added at a later date. However, Goodwin & Co. made frequent and regular use of the original four poses as follows: |
