I have discussed this with Leon (Thanks Leon) before posting, so cast no stones! A new Board 54 forum for vintage football collectors has been created that will allow those of us who collect football as well to discuss topics related to pre-1979 football items. The address is listed below: |

Can't wait to visit this board. I am an avid Philadelphia Eagles/Frankford Yellowjackets collector but have a bunch of other vintage football items. This forum has been long overdue. thanks |

I suspect the football board will do well. It appears to be run by Gridiron Greats which I beleive is the only magazine on the subject of vintage football memorabilia. The publisher is runs a good ship. |

I think the key was pre 79 football. I like the idea as I grew up a football collector. We didn't have a major league team where I grew up, but we did have a Football team, so I spent all my hard earn allowance in the 60's on football packs. |

I should have mentioned in my original post that Frank Rose, publisher of Gridiron Greats magazine, created the forum. |

The forum is considering anything prior to 1979 as vintage. |

Fred, if you're asking about prewar fb cards, the hobby's accepted first fb card is a college player in n162 (1888) - there are two such cards currently on ebay which is unusual. |

Gridiron Greats the magazine covers football cards, but also covers vintage football memorabilia including equipment, programs and autographs. It also covers vintage football history. No doubt all of those topics are acceptable for the Net54 football board ... For those interested in the subject, I recommend the magazine-- order at gridiorongreats.net. It's a quarterly, like Old Card Board, and is well run. They have articles from knowledgeable folk, I recall from Briant Wentz and the head of research for NFL Films. |
