tonight ? I have about 6 or 7 in but hope to get 2 or 3. If i end up with more than that it could be very bad for my bank account. The t206 lots in the Maestro auction are through the roof but hopefully a few single lots will stay where they are.

Mastro - no way. I put in several bids, but those items were already well above market value (if such a thing exists) at 7pm. Good luck to the rest of you who are still "alive" in that one.

I admit I am not bidding on any auctions this time around, just wanting to get a feel for how they work before I start bidding in them.

Question:

I thought Mastro had a 5 minute rule for their auctions once normal bidding is closed. Did they get rid of it and go to a 30 minutes for each bid again? Just wondering

It used to be the "all night and morning" rule until recently. Now it's the 30 minute rule as you have described.

Space odditiy, way cool but not really within the scope of what I collect and I didn't know what a realistic price should have been for a piece like this.

Grover Alexander autograph went over budget.

Just right, Mickey Cochrane autograph for the HOF collection. I wasn't really willing to go any higher or wait any later than I did.

My first Mastro experience and so far no complaints.

The write-up says that ...

That means I won an evocative relic that will engage me every time I look at it.

Out of 18 lot's I bid on I won one lot. Lot #216: 1933 Goudey #77 Adam Comorosky PSA 7. It looks like a high end PSA 7 and it's a Pirate so I'm happy.


I was blown out on the lot I really wanted. Lot #1048: 1893 Pittsburgh Athletic Club Team Photo. I was in untill it went over $1k and it ended over $1600.00!

I was teaming up with Barry Sloate this time around. We were the underbidder on several items, including the t209 lot and (I believe) the lot of 79 caramels. However we did come away with a couple wins: the midgrade n162 set (which was lot #980 or something like that) and lot #7 which was a mixed 19th century lot that included a PSA 4 OJ Hanlon, a couple SGC 60 n28s and a couple of OJs depicting players from the Chicago Maroons.
