The Standard Catalog has two possible Smiths listed for S74 white specimens -- Hap (Brooklyn Superbas) and Harry (Boston Rustlers). I have a Tony Smith (Brooklyn Superbas) with an Old Mill paper backing, which was located among a decent sized group. Since Hap and Tony were teammates in 1910 and could easily be confused with each other, should Hap Smith be correctly labelled as "Tony Smith" or is Tony Smith in fact a third, previously uncataloged variation? Just curious. |
