Lot of 2477 Zeenuts! Anyone who collects Zeenuts will tell you that putting together a group this large takes some doing. Several key cards and HOFers, Home Run Kisses, and Cards w/ coupons. Awesome. Wish I had the scratch. |

I have a hard time believing Sotheby's couldn't break up some of the large lots like the Zeenuts into smaller lots. More work but more money. The near sets like the PX7, P2 and tobacco card near sets, I understand, but breaking the Obaks and Zeenuts down would definitely bring a bigger pay day and enable more spirited bidding competition with guys that, say, want only the 1909 Obak near set, etc. |

A bit of a lost oppurtunity on Sotheby's part. It's entirely likely that these will end up on Ebay. I'd be real surprised if the winning bidder just scooped them up and held on to them. |

What do you think the Zeenut lot will sell for (without 20% juice)? |

Sell price for the lot will be $19,437.19 plus the juice. |

Mike- that's an interesting bidding increment you came up with for a live auction. Actaully, does anyone know the condition of all the cards? The ones pictured look great but I fear that the other 2400 not pictured might not hold up as well. Until the viewing, it's impossible to tell how desirable the lot really is. I'll be down there next week; I'll take a quick look, but probably won't go through every card. |

I saw them auctioning Claxton and 3 Black Sox in separate lots. Why they put Weaver, Williams and Risberg into one lot utterly escapes me. I think they would separately draw at least as much as Claxton who is, after all, a novelty act, not part of MLB history. |

I predict the lot goes to a collector and none of the cards reach the marketplace for the foreseeable future. And I think Adam's 40K-50K is pretty much on the money- unless two people have to have it. It's probably the largest group ever offered, so in that sense it is unique. |

I bet someone who isn't hugely into Zeenuts sees this as a way to parlay a large chunk of the set into their collection. Would love to have them but 2500 commons for $15-$20 in mixed condition is a little steep for my blood..... |
