I just purchased what I think is the t206 murray error but the background is clearly orange, not yellow?!?! Is this the "error" card? Does anyone have a scan of the yellow background card? Thanks! |

Red Murray cards come with either a red/orange background for the batting pose or a blue background for the portrait.Ive never seen any other color except on proofs and those cards have different color backgrounds because they werent done.On his batting pose the color can be anywhere from red to orange and any shade in between but that kind of variance can be said for any card in the set |

Are you sure the card just did not fade...Red is the most sensitive color..look at the Ruth card in the Recent Picks ups thread |

thanks guys...I've seen the Ruth. In the new SCD price guide under t206 errors they list under variations a yellow background murray card. I guess this is what I was referring to. I bought the murray card(s) under the impression the orange one was the variation?! Was I duped or stupid or naieve? It was graded by sgc as the 1st graded too! |

Pete- GAI seemingly grades everything as "First graded" I don't know if that means the first time a particular card was submitted for grading or the first time they graded that type of card, in other words, the first time they graded THAT Murray or the first time they graded ANY T206 Murray. |

I don't think there are a lot of people in here that put a premium on color variations and most of them are pretty knowledgable. I did not get many positive responses on my yellow orange background color variation of a T206 red portrait Ty Cobb. I personally think they are neat to collect and may even have a niche market for them somewhere. |

As it has been explained to me, for any card a "First Graded" designation is assigned to the first time a particular card is assigned a particular grade. In other words there is a T206 Cobb Red Background 3(VG)-First Graded, 4(VGEX)-First Graded, 5(EX)-First Graded. It's all rather meaningless. |
