Unless you count old timers in the 1940 set like Charlie Grimm and a few others, there are no Cubs in the Play Ball sets from 1939 to 1941. Also, there are very few Cardinals (no Johnny Mize or Enos Slaughter) and only one Cardinal (Jimmy Brown) in the 1941 set. Didn't the same company (Gum, Inc.) produce the 1941 Double Play series, which does feature Cubs and Cardinals? Does anybody on this board no why? I hope this isn't off-topic — I realize this board is pre-war. I've just never figured out which war. There are relatively few posts regarding Goudeys, Diamond Stars and Play Balls. |
