...of course it's still beautiful. Looks like what we woiyld today call a "missing pixel," as in variation B of the '52 Mantle. Please, nobody ask. You don't want to know... |

I think the little white spot on the front is something that was on my scanner or on the outside of the slab. I will have to check and make sure next time I go to the safe deposit box. |

Well, when you're are paying money and trusting the co. with your collectibles, you would like them to provide a service that is CONSISTENT...so personally, I understand your complaint. Especially with a card like that. |

it seems the grading companies grade tought one time, then right on the money the next submission. Also, the bigger names - such as Young or Cobb, are graded HARSHLY by SGC and GAI! The Young does look at least VG/EX to me - but that doesn't mean anything! You think that is bad, I have two 1915 CJ's I thought were EX and VG/EX LOCKS that GAI just slabbed both as 2's!!!!!!!!!!! I even looked the cards over with my loupe and NOTHING to be found - of course they haven't arrived back yet - knowing my luck the grader dropped them while looking at them or something. |

Good points. I also believe that grading companies see so many poor and fair examples of rare issues, that they sometimes give several examples higher grades than they deserve. |

Personally, I wouldn't care what grade that card gets. Just enjoy owning it. But Hal, if you don't want it, it'll go GREAT sitting next to the blank back example in my collection... |

Why have it slabbed if your keeping it ? |

Dan, I guess I also needed the "authentication" that went along with the slabbing so that I could sleep well at nights knowing that I am not the victim of some great counterfeiter. |

i have had similar problems with sgc and grading lately. the killed me on some e- and n- cards that i submitted. they said that under 20x the creases are obvious, well just about anything is obvious under that high power. they refused to even reconsider the grade |

and we discussed two items, mostly: first, that SGC doesn't grade cards with the "authentic" label abd second, that SGC is brutal on its grading of caramel cards. The guy I spoke to on the phone, Scott, was very cordial and expressed the opinion that perhaps the refusal to grade cards as "authentic" would be changing in the future because of the growing interest in having cards from sets which are commonly "hand-cut" graded. Case in point is the 1909 Obak set in which it is common to see handcut cards as opposed to the 1910 and 1911 Obaks sets in which you almost never see hand-cut cards. |

I just purchased a very nice and very rare "handcut" card that had to be slabbed by GAI as "authentic" because SGC would not not do it. |

SGC grades strips cards, so I don't understand why they would have a problem grading "hand cut" cards and using the authentic label. |
