It doesn't look like much but it has a very light Spalding stamp on it with small white stitches. I think it's 1890's to early 1900's.

I love baseball boxes....most of these are empty boxes, but not all of them.




My favorite box is this old Pennant brand with the cellophane window...I found the baseball once, but got outsniped for it.

balls. Three lemon peel in different styles (early, hand stitch, machine stitch) and an ealy figure eight. I'm looking for an inexpensive trophy ball similar to the ones recently sold at Hunt's.....

Picked up these 2 mini American League baseballs last year. I was told they were salesman samples??



This one has red and blue stitches with Ban Johnson's name on the side.


This one has William Harridge's name

Here is an Anchor Brand WWII era cork baseball. I posted this on the card forum a few months ago and received a response as to its maker and age nearly instantaneously! I love the knowledge gathered at this forum!

This ball has no major significance but I have always liked it a lot because of it's look and character. Its got the score (4 - 3) and date (9/7/36) in a 12 inning game between UB and W.

What I haven't figured out is what the numbers on the bottom signify. There are 12 so I am assuming it has something to do with the innnings??

4-0-1-5-2-0
40-4-7-3-15-2

Maybe it is obvious and I am just not seeing it. Any idea what these numbers are?

super trophy ball. If I might ask - it appears to be a figure eight? TY in advance for your reply. Love the box display as well. That's why memorabilia is special to me. It's hard to make an overall artistic display with cards. The work has already been done and you can put them side to side or whatever and YOU haven't done much. With memorabilia it's an opportunity to create a feeling, make a picture for the mind or soul, cast your vision onto some thing or the aggregate whole. Additionally it doesn't preclude one from incorporating cards into the display. Card people tend to have a more narrow focus.....

Thanks. The Mechanics ball actually came from an old Lehigh University trophy case. The ball appears to be plaster covered and then painted. It is a Figure 8 ball.
