With 19th Century Only, Lipset, & Mastro over or soon to be over, who cares to share what they won? While I bid in all three, I can't say I won a single item. |

Couldn't resist the beautiful front. I've HAD that gorgeous Kelly portrait (not in THAT condition, but pretty nice) for a couple of years, and I'm the only one who ever made a fuss over it...and that absolutely includes Bob Lemke (the "Chicago" designation being listed as significantly cheaper than the "Boston"). |

on about 50 lots in Mastronet auction early and was outbid early. I bid on about 3-4 in last couple of days to levels that I thought were about 80-90% of retail and am 3-5 bids below what they finally sold for or are selling for. Their bids are becoming more and more difficult to believe. I think Alan Greenspan coind the phrase 'irrational exuberance' a little early and about the wrong thing......... |

... struck out on all 7 Mastro lots I was going for. Was high bidder on 3 entering the last day, but those bids disappeared like snow in the sun. |

Only bid on two lots but wasn't even in the same galaxy for the final bid. I don't know about anyone else, but noticing that the Ruth & Wagner went for the same price, I would take a poor Wagner every day of the week and twice on Sunday over a PSA 8 Ruth. |

I bid on 15 lots and won zero. There was only a couple I actually had a chance on, but the bidding just went too high. Robert Edwards auctions are next. |

I did win two items: The E121 American Caramel Babe Ruth for $1298 and the 1914 Cracker Jack Cobb for $1948. Probably a little high on each but the way that the prices have been going up on the nicer vintage cards I feel that in the long run these will be worthwhile. |

Didn't strike out because I never stepped up to the plate. I would, however, be very interested in a few of the off-conditioned cards from lot 176 in Lipset (14 E145 Cracker Jack Hall of Famers and Joe Wood) if anyone reading this was a winner on that lot. |

I was drunk last night and accidentially placed a final bid on the 1952 Topps 24 packs. They don't worth that much money but I think I have to bare the cost of drinking. Glad that I have 250K allocated for this Masto auction anyways. |

0 for Mastro although I lead on four or five a long time and tried to win wire to wire. 0 for Lipset also. I was in on the Hindu back T205 but didn't win. |

Lot 196 from the Lipset auction, a group of 67 '33 World Wide Gum cards. I never win anything, so I thought I'd post. |

The '33 and '34 World Wide gum sets are a good way to get a nice Ruth for a lot less than the '33 Goudeys. I had a '34 WWG of the yellow background Ruth and it looked almost identical to it's English-speaking cousin. |

so far! I bid on and won only one lot in Lipset's auction - Lot 211 (9 diff. 1954 Wilson Franks cards). I'm over half way home towards completing this set now, and I have the Ted Williams out of the way!!! |

I won a couple of lots... Lew is such a good salesman on the phone. I've never heard the term "rare" used in every sentence. I can't keep up with the inflating prices to know if it was a good buy now or 5 years from now. |

two were fantastic!!! The Lone Jack and Virginia Extra Jennings! Wish I would have had more money to spend, I would have went after these two myself. However, I'm glad you were able to win them at terrific prices! See, this is where those people who buy Wagners and Planks mess up - they could buy SEVERAL lots of super rare cards such as these two and end up making a much higher % return on their investment in two or three years when they get "tired" of a card and want to sell it!!!!!!! These will probably double or triple in value (especially at the prices you were able to acquire them at), while a Plank or Wagner sold down the road will be lucky to return 10-20% on the initial investment! Just my thoughts, but I TRULY believe you did well! |

You may make a higher return on these rarer cards, but owning the Wagner, Plank etc is about ego and bragging rights, not a return on investment. |

personally, mine wouldn't be any bigger than if I had a nice VG/EX range complete set of Lone Jacks, T210 Jackson and a Just So Cy Young (Myself and my ego would take those over ANY T206 Wagner and/or Plank)!!!!! |
