You would figure with how popular WCG is they wouldve graded a higher example of this card(i know everyone at my job talks about them and we went as fas as buying a water cooler just so we could stand around it and talk about them)

For some reason i dont doubt that statement because i dont expect someone in their right mind to send a gem mint 1975 topps card to WCG over the 10 choices that are better and wouldget them more money

what exactly is the problem with another grading company? if we were limited to two or three companies for every product made, we would be living in Russia.
No one is forcing anyone to use a grading company that it dosent want to. If you are happy with your grading company, than stick with them but dont deny or past judgement on a new product that is trying to start up the same way PSA or Becketts did!

this chatboard can be accessed by anyone who has access to the internet, regardless of physical location, even Russians (BTW - the Soviet Union and Communism fell back in the '80s).

Also, posting as "Anonymous" won't protect you from "them" - "they" will use your i.p. address to hunt you down. Also, "they" can analyze the grammar and misspellings in your posts to determine what part of the planet you live on. I have my guesses, but I don't want to offend anyone from...

From a purely practical standpoint, the last thing I would want to be doing is sitting in my basement making labels, ecapsulating cards. I suspect it get's old after the 5,000th Topps card. Pay me nothing, and I'll go to the beach instead.

I will agree with Anonymous, and agree that bidders should be allowed to pick and choose their graders of choice. This is, however, on the stict condition that these same bidders take responsibility for the choices, and don't come back whining that their PRO or WCG graded card (invariably bought at deep discount) isn't as good as PSA or SGC. With rights (freedoms) comes responsibilities, and one can't choose one without the other. So, if a bidder, faced with 30 different holders, doesn't take the time to ask people which graders are best and which graders are lesser, I don't want to hear complaints when they invariably find out why PRO or AAA or such sell for so cheap.

I have 70 year old grandmothers with absolutely no baseball or collecting experience, a 7 year old kid from down the block and a store owner from England who wouldn't know Chuck Klein from Chuck E Cheese talk to me or email me pictures of baseball cards wondering what they are and if they have any value, or asking me if an item looks legitimate and is it worth bidding on, or if I can recommend a good source for reading on the subject. If these people can and do ask me questions, please anyone on this board explain to me why I should have patience with eBay bidders, ivariably looking for that great steal so they can make a chunk of change or resell, who don't ask "I'm not familiar with AAA or PRO graded cards. Are they as good as PSA?"? Because I don't know why I should have patience for them.

This shows that the keys to being a smart collector and making good decisions, is to ask questions (and sincerely try to get them answered). The more questions the better.

No one should ever be too proud to ask questions, no matter how 'dumb' or obvious the question may seem. I will promise you that the dumb people are those who are too proud to ask questions.

One more time: whether you are a beginner or experience, young or old, dog or cat-- ask questions, ask questions, ask questions and ask more questions.

I draw the proverbial line in the sand

If a collector asks good questions and sincerely tries to gets them answered, but is misled I will have sympathy and understanding if they buy fakes or overpay.

If a collector doesn't ask any questions, even the most basic ones ('Is AAA legitimate?' 'I hear there are lots of autograph forgeries, do you have any advice on how to buy real autographs?,' 'I'm a total beginner, do you have any advice?'), I have no sympathy for their plight.

As I said earlier, I firmly beleive that many people have no business collecting. If someone can't ask even the most basic questions, they should find another hobby or their spouse should quickly hide the credit card (like hiding the car keys from grandpa).

One more time: Ask questions. That's what separates humans from the snails.

No one ever accused me of being subtle about forgeries or authentication, but as long as AAA continues to clog the Pre-War card category (this week, next week, the week after that) it is apparent that I am not being obvious enough.
