Did "auctionstealer" drop dead?

Could not get hold of them all day yesterday, or today. I had to snipe an auction--which I hadn't done for nearly half a year--and the configuration was so changed that I sniped with 2 minutes left, which cost me a lot of money (well, $100...)

I rightly had decided that I should snipe $50 higher--at least, I was right after a guy had bid be up during those 2 minutes! Urg!

They've always been available and dependable...

Scott meant that if you sign up with the auction service, and list him as your sponser, he will get about $2.00 (depending on the auctions)in free snipes The snipe services charge a very small fee after the first few...best regards

From the Email sent by AuctionStealer recently, they
stated that some Ebay passwords were compromised, but
nothing else. They said they don't have credit card
info. in there system, but I don't know where they would have it. They recommended to everyone who uses there service to change there Ebay password immeditaly. I did that and unfortunatly I was using
my Ebay password other places (big mistake), so I ended up making new passwords for all my other accounts.

I tried to access auctionstealer about a week or so ago and couldn't get on the site for something like 2 straight days. I tried every which way, including an AOL search to try another link and nothing. I haven't used it lately anyhow and I was new to the site with a free account, so if it's gone, I'll just have to move on. Would be interesting to know what the story is though.

First rule of the internet is that any site that requires a password and has credit card info or other sensative info always gets a unique password.

The password I use for my fantasy baseball teams and other general sites is no real secret, but my passwords for my banking, eBay and the site I buy DVDs from, all have very different passwords.

...and then they were up, and now they've been down for the past couple of days again. Reluctantly, I think I need another service. I had steathbid as a back up, but they aren't as good costwise (they charge a % of the winning auction) and they also seem to bid about 5 seconds before the end vs. auctionstealers option of putting in a bid 3 seconds before the end.

What annoys me is when I saw they were down, I used my back up and set up a snipe- then decided I didn't want the item after all, cancelled the backup snipe- but forgot I had already put a snipe down w/auctionstealer which DID go thru (I wouldn't have been able to get onto their site to check it anyway). So now I'll have a $55 item that I didn't particularly want (you know how you look hard at something and talk yourself out of wanting to go for it- and then you win it- you never forget those reasons you decided not to go for it.

Anyway, I can't rely on auctionstealer if they're going to be up or down or up or down, etc. As soon as they're up next, I'll probably just cancel my account. Hate to make someone lose business because a (rival's?) virus gummed up their works, but if I can't rely on them anymore, there isn't much point.

just an fyi: if anybody is afraid that auctionstealer has their cc info and that it has been stolen, I ~think~ it's an unfounded worry, because auctionstealer never accepted credit cards. They have, however, done periodic billing through paypal, which means they know what your paypal account is, but they would have no access to the credit card that funds your paypal account.
