Default Old video on the 1991 or so Boston Club Show

The 1988 Date is incorrect but seeing Rosen and Levi in this video was quite a nice surprise

Great video. Thanks for posting.

Interesting that almost 35 years ago people were complaining about kids being priced out of the hobby. Anyone who's been to a recent National knows that's simply not true. You see more kids than ever before, and with wads of $100's.

I also wish I could buy 200 of those $55 Mantle autographed baseballs.

I loved watching that - I watched closely for myself since I definitely was going to that show around that time period!

Of all things that stood out, I think the reporter was on a quest to find the strongest Boston accents he possibly could find in the crowd. Certainly were some wicked strong accents in there!

I got to spend 3 days set up across Levi at the most recent Boston Shriners show in November.

He had a lot of visitors at his table that weekend.

Wicked lol.
Practically the first thing I did after arriving in Cambridge in 1981 was, naturally, to go to Fenway. That was my first real exposure to the accent.

I love how they say “cards”.

Great video. Where are all the slabbed cards?!?

As a kid, I was a major card show attendee from about 1985-1990.

Al Rosen "Mr. Mint" said he had been on Good Morning America 3 times, and Joan Lunden said that there are heads of state that hadn't been on the show that many times. He said, "Yeah, but I sell baseball cards, and that's more interesting!" That's true.

Default Jack is that you?

If it is, I will tell you that he is one of the most knowledgeable people I know and helpful people I have ever met and helped us tremendously back when I was doing the Beckett Almanac

That was wicked awesome! The best part…Levi dropping a $35K price tag for what looks to have been a Gem Mint 52 Topps Mantle!

Haven’t you heard? A C note is the new $1 bill.

I guess Whitey Ford was another who went to Catholic School or the like, like Babe Ruth, etc.?
So strange seeing such a prestigious southpaw writing 'correctly' with his right hand.

Another one of the big shows in the Boston area at the time was the Lynnfield show. I found this program from fall 1988, the 3rd Lynnfield classic. Here's the interior of the program with dealer list - lots of familiar names on here as well....

I was probably there the day before. From the people who look like they're packing up in a couple scenes it would have been Sunday, and I usually went on Saturday.

I've probably met Webster, at least in passing. I was member 594.

Peter,

I think you are correct.

Looking at all the vintage cards in those thick lucite cases - they all remind me of the forgeries on EBay.

Anyone else a bit horny for and a little fascinated by that fuzzy-headed non-sports collecting lady???
I would've loved to buy her a cup of cawfee (that's my pronunciation, not a play on what hers probably was)!!!

Another great show in Boston was the one at the Boston College High School. I think it was promoted by the Rose brothers. Bill Russell was the main autograph signer at $350.00 around 1990 or so.

I recall a BC High show where Russell AND Wilt were there signing. I was too cheap to get a signed basketball, something I really regret now. I think this was 1996 or so because TPG was already fairly well established.

Great video Ty for posting. Def brought back some great memories. I had several spirited deals with Benjamin “ Benny” Lewin.

I was at that Lynnfield show working for one if the dealers at the time. If I recall, both Yaz and Ted signed next to each other at that show.
