Fs: Cap anson 1918 lifetime baseball pass
CAP ANSON 1918 BASEBALL LIFETIME PASS Measures 4.5 x 3.5. Signed by League President JOHN TENER (Died-1946) a one of a kind GEM from the estate of Cap Anson's grand-daughter. Not signed by Anson but the historical significance can not be under-stated. Cap Anson is considered Baseball's FIRST superstar and this pass gives he and his family free admission into any game a fitting tribute to this legendary Hall Of fame. The pass is on heavy stock and in fine condition except for the lower left and lower right corners having been clipped. Anson played a record 27 consecutive seasons. Anson was regarded as one of the greatest players of his era and the first superstar of the game. He spent most of his career with the Chicago Cubs franchise (then known as the "White Stockings" and later the "Colts"), serving as the club's manager, first baseman and, later in his tenure, minority owner. He led the team to six National League pennants in the 1880s. He died only 4 years after this pass was issued. Imagine the rarified air of early 20th Century baseball this pass actually breathed. $2,950.00
